Personal History: Jaci grew up in Inistioge, a small town in County Kilkenny, Ireland.She's the youngest of three children, her siblings being a 15 year old sister (Jocelyn) and a 16 year old brother (John). Her parents are both educators at the local secondary school, where her mother teaches chemistry and her father teaches Maths. The family has always been very close, and it was tradition after dinner every evening to stay crowded around the kitchen table to play games or discuss what's happening in their lives. Her family still isn't quite sure what to do with a witch in their family, because, as far as they know, she's the first. They're very proud of her, but it's difficult for them to deal with their youngest being so far from home. She always spends a great deal of her weekend mornings writing letters home to her sister and brother.

She started learning to play the piano at age 9, with her grandmother as her teacher, but since she left home for Hogwarts only two years later, her skills aren't exactly noteworthy. She does wish to continue learning to play, and spends a great deal of her summer at the piano, and she even has a tendency to carry staff paper wherever she goes. An aspiring pianist that will never be anything beyond mediocre.

During her first year at Hogwarts, she learned that the area nearest the lake is her favorite place to hang out and study because it reminds her of her home. Chances are, if she isn't in the library or the common room, she's out by the lake.

Personality: Being from a small town, she's accustomed to knowing everyone and everything, so she has a tendency to want to be in the middle of everything. To her, Hogwarts is just another 'small town', and she doesn't understand why she shouldn't be allowed to wander freely and get to know all of it's citizens. She commonly carries parchment with her wherever she goes, even when she isn't studying, because she can't stand not having something to write on. One page may be filled with quotes, the next with scribbled drawings that mean nothing to anyone but her, more are letters to home, and even more are lists of what needs to be done and what has already been completed. Ink is often found smeared on her temples or forehead because she just can't stop trying to tuck her quill behind her ear. She still prefers ballpoint pens to those messy quills any day. She's had a hard time adjusting to live as a witch, but that doesn't mean she doesn't think it's a great thing, and she does strive to be the best that she can be. She toys with her hair when reading or daydreaming, but learned from her mother that it should always be well out of the way before staring to work with chemicals, something she always remembers before Potions.

Physical Description: Still a little short, around 5'1, she hopes to hit that promised growth spurt any day now. She's a little chubby, though her mom swears it's just baby fat, but she doesn't let that bother her in the least bit.Her sister was chubby, but she grew out of it, so there is hope yet.Her hair is all one length, falling to just past her shoulders. It's a little boring, brown without much in the way of highlights, but it's sleek and doesn't give her much trouble. Her eyes are hazel, mostly brown with just a little hint of green. She's on the pale side, but usually tans after spending the summer in the sun.

Sample RP: "Fourteen inches. Fourteen inches?" Jaci muttered as she picked up her transfiguration book and began flipping through the pages. A loud 'shhhh' came from across the library and she offered an apologetic frown to the offended party. "Sorry," she mouthed before turning her attention back to her book. Flip. Flip. Flip. Flip flip flip. Only a few seconds worth of scanning the pages before her attention shifted back to her bag and started digging for her parchment and quill. A look of determination appeared on her face, but the question was if it was determination to do the essay or ignore the essay and write a letter.

Hobbies and talents: Learning to play the piano, if somewhat badly.
Weaknesses: Flying, because she's afraid of falling.

Time Line

Ages 0 - 11: Jaci lived in Inistioge with her family and attended school with her friends and neighbors. She did well with the sciences and maths, and her parents figured that she'd follow in their footsteps. Sure, strange things happened sometimes when she was around, but her family always chalked that up to coincidence, not figuring it ever had anything to do with the youngest member of her family. That is, until she got her Hogwarts letter. After a great deal of discussion and some careful research on the wizarding world in general, plus some pleading and begging on Jaci's part, her parents relented and agreed to allow their little girl to go off to learn how to be a proper witch.

Age 11 (Year One): Jaci really wasn't sure what her life was going to be like, and she was more nervous than she'd ever been on that first day in the wizarding world. Having been raised a muggle, there wasn't much about magic that she did understand, and it was the simple act of trying to figure out how to find her train that was the milestone that made her realize how different life was going to be. After a good 10 minutes of trying to figure out how to get where she was supposed to be going, and obviously looking quite confused, she was offered assistance by Juhi, a 4th year Ravenclaw. Little did Juhi know that her act of kindness gained her a Juhi-wannabe and sometime-shadow.

It took a little time for Jaci to adjust to being at a magical school with any number of things moving and talking around here all of the time, but once she found her place in her classes and amongst her classmates, she settled in nicely. Potions and Charms quickly became her two favorite classes, and she had trouble understanding why so many people disliked Potions. Sure, the professor was obnoxious and a bit scary, but she found that as long as she minded her own business and followed the directions 'just so', he didn't hassle her all that much. On the other hand, there were classes like Transfiguration, which twisted Jaci's brain into knots. Being raised by a scientist mother was making it very difficult for her to comprehend the act of items being so 'easily' transformed into other objects. And flying? Oh boy. Jaci would be happy to never see another broom in her life. Not that she dislike's Quidditch, it's great fun to watch, but just the thought of being on a broom would make her feel sick.

Jaci's biggest struggles are adapting to being away from her loved ones for so much of the year and learning how to fit into the wizarding world when she comes from such a muggle town and family.

Age 12 (Year Two): This time, Jaci wasn't nervous or scared, she was more excited and eager, when it was time to head back to Hogwarts. She has her friends, her classmates, and even the paintings to keep her company. There are potions to brew, charms to learn, and plants to grow. Unfortunately, there are more things to transform, but maybe she'll get a hang of it this year. Maybe. Even better, maybe she'll finally figure out why it is that she just can't seem to fit into the wizarding world as easily as everyone else does.

Week 001: Back to school, back to normal. Not much happened during her first week back, everyone was too busy settling into their classes and hanging out with their friends for anything overly exciting to happen to her. She was glad to be back at school, even if it meant a slight case of homesickness. Juhi and Sebastian helped her practice spells for the first practical class in Defense, which would take place in her second week.

Week 002: Jaci's second week of her second year was a very good one for her. She made a new friend in within her house (Niamh), had a chance to fight her first 'dark creature' in Defense class, found a big brother in Soren, and even met the famous Harry Potter.

Week 003: This week started out on the right foot, with Juhi teaching her to fly on a broom without scaring her to death. It was pretty successful, and Jaci was quite happy about it. Unfortunately, it turned sour pretty quickly when she was caught and tormented by a pair of 7th year Slytherins (Wes and Preston). She's struggling to keep her balance and face a Hogwarts that has suddenly begun to terrify her.
